"Greenland Secrets" Original Painting

Greenland intrigues me.

-It is home to the largest fjord system in the world with huge glaciers, Scoresby Sund. 350km long, 600m deep and breathtaking!

-It contains so much ice. If it all melted, we’d have 7 meter sea level rise.

-When ice slides of the rocks in Greenland, it can cause local mega tsunamis. Latest was in 2017, 90 meters high!

-When Greenland ice melts, it doesn’t mix well with the salty ocean water. That messes up ocean currents, including the Gulf Stream. If Gulf Stream just slows down, we’ll be very hot in Europe. If it stops, we’ll be cold instead. 

Greenland is a perfect representation of the Arctic. Breathtaking and distant, yet fragile and crucial for all of us.
